The theme of the performance is the collective pain of living in today’s world.
An every-man on foot meets or evokes a group of shadow figures, tall on their stilts, who carry fragile lights. Colours emerge, float, dance and counter the darkness. The set flies and soars into multiple spaces, causing surprise and wonder. The living and the dead dance, or maybe pray together, inspired by whirling dervishes, dhikr and candomblé, illuminating aspects of pain, rage and hope to the sound of Ravel's Bolero.
The text contains fragments of Yesenin, Mayakovski and Nâzim Hikmet.
